Black Pheonix (previously 4Q/Tap Room /Pensioners), Bedford Place (closing down)

The Tap Room, which used to be called the Pensioners Arms, then Pensioners, has a promising name and external appearance, but interior is standard rubber stamped "family food pub" al la Wetherspoons or Beefeater, with two bog standard beers on the pumps. Will check out again at a later date to see if the beer offerings were non-typical as WhatPub says they normally have a decent range.

Plain interior

The pub is run by Faucet Inns who have trendy pubs in London, but it is currently being sold for £500,000. That may explain the lack of decent beer.

Still closed as of July 2017

The local paper reported that the Tap Room had been bought in February, with an intention of opening it in mid March. But as of July 2017, the place is still looking closed.
