Cuban vibes |
Another cocktail/tapas bar/night club - these are the buzzing places in Southampton at the moment. This is the companion chain to Revolution in Bedford Place. Booking appears to be essential for the evening, and you have to give your credit card details - if you don't turn up or are late they will deduct £10 per person from your card. However, the place is not busy during weekdays, and you should be able to get a table on a walk in without any trouble.
Madri on tap |
Several keg lagers on offer, including Beavertown Neck Oil (yes, it's a lager - looks, tastes, and behaves like a keg lager). I went for the Madri Excepcional, a Spanish lager I'd not had before. It was a reasonable drink for a keg lager, having a little more malt body and a lot less hops than many.
Chill out to the Cuban music |
The place operates over several floors, including a rooftop bar. On our cold Friday lunchtime visit, there were only two other tables occupied. But there was an attractive vibe with cool Cuban music playing gently in the background.
The toilets are upstairs. The stairs are decorated in a distressed way to give the feel of a run down post revolution Havana. It's kinda interesting that they had the idea, and went to the expense of carrying it out. But it is a talking point, so I guess it works.

Attractive meal deals beautifully presented
The lunchtime meal deals were not clear, and our waiter was not completely sure himself, but we did get a free soft drink with a lunch main, and I got two tapas for the price of one. Including a pint of Madri lager, the lunch for two was £20.15. Good deal.
