Mettricks is no longer a decent beer venue. The time when it sold local cask beers has gone. Indeed cask beers, local or not, have gone. And local beers in bottle or on tap have gone. But they still serve beer, albeit mainstream keg, and while the ambiance under the new owners is not quite the same, there is still a cool laid back slightly bohemian atmosphere.

I had an Estrella and sat on a slightly uncomfortable red leather sofa by a sunny window and listened to the gentle bubble of conversation, the rattle and hum of the staff serving coffee, and the just a tad too loud but quite pleasant music while tapping this out on my phone. Yeah. It's a cool place. Shame about the beer.
